Grateful for many healings
My expression in print, of gratitude for a lifetime of guidance, healing, protection, happiness, and health through the practice of Christian Science, is long overdue. “Threescore years and ten” are well behind me, and every day more evidence of God’s great love for His children becomes apparent, as does my recognition of Him as the only creator and maintainer of the perfection of His creation.
A number of years ago, I was in a tobogganing accident while on a winter weekend excursion with a group of Christian Scientists. In addition to facial injuries, my back was injured, and I wasn’t able to walk. Our chaperone was a Christian Science practitioner, and she began praying for me right away. The facility offered medical attention, but I said I was being well cared for and wanted to rely completely on prayer. One idea that the practitioner shared with me was that there could be no interruption in the completeness of what God had created.
Healing began immediately. My face was quickly restored to normal—including an injured nose and jaw—and on Monday morning I was able to go to work, though in some discomfort. Improvement was steady over the next two weeks, after which I was able to engage in every activity as before without impairment.
