A new angle on age
“The AGE issue!”
This bold headline jumped out at me from the cover of a magazine at the airport bookstore. It featured three smiling people from different generations. Stories inside ranged from where they were in their lives, to health predictions and advice.
The issue of aging isn’t something that can be ignored or shoved aside. And that’s exactly why this issue of the Sentinel is taking it on. Our lead article starts by focusing on the fact that as God’s ideas, we can claim health and vitality as a natural and permanent part of our being. In this piece, Jack Hubbell states, “As Christian Science teaches, age is not a condition of matter, but a state of human consciousness” (see p. 14). His article encourages readers not to postpone prayer on the topic: “I’ve found it important not only to refuse to think of ourselves as growing older and losing vigor, but also to refuse to see others this way. We need to be constantly alert as to what we allow into consciousness” (see p. 15).
