A letter from Van and Mac
Hi, I’m Van. I like woodworking, skijoring and bikejoring, which is skiing and bike riding where dogs help pull you. I also like ice skating, gardening, building forts, playing in the woods, and camping. I play the cello and I am in the concert orchestra.
I live near the city of Fairbanks, Alaska. I’m 11 years old and I’ve never lived anywhere else. Some things I like about Alaska are: I can ski and skate out my front door; you can bike everywhere; there are voles to catch and play with; I can have a dog team.
My family has three Huskies: Rye, Murray, and Midnight. We also have 15 chickens, and my brother Mac and I have an egg business. We have a big yard for our chickens. We feed the chickens and get the eggs every day. We clean the henhouse. We sell the eggs to friends and neighbors. Our family also raises bees, and we get about eight gallons of honey each year!
