WRIST HEALED AFTER A FALL

Early one morning this past winter, when unusually low temperatures dropped below freezing, I went into the backyard to be sure the automatic garden sprinklers were turned off. As I was hurrying out in slippers, my feet skidded out from under me, and I fell awkwardly on the concrete, ice-covered patio.

Immediately, I turned my thought away from what had happened and affirmed right then and there that I was in God's loving care, from which I couldn't fall. I'd learned from my study of Christian Science that I didn't need to examine the body to see whether I'd been injured. I made an attempt to get up, but wasn't able to and ended up sliding around on the ice.

Knowing no one was around, I turned wholeheartedly to God to help me, which I'd done many times before. Anxious thoughts lessened as I sat there listening for God's direction. Soon, I noticed a patio chair nearby, and was able to pull myself up with the steady support of the chair. Standing up, I found with deep gratitude that I could walk normally—it wasn't necessary to limp, despite an initial feeling that I needed to do so.
