I have been a student of Christian Science for many years. It has been my way of life, and I've had many proofs of God's loving care, seen in healings, protection, and guidance.

I will tell you how I became interested in Christian Science. I worked in an office with a lass who was a Christian Scientist. Although I knew nothing of Christian Science, if I ever had a problem, I would go and talk it over with this woman because she always allayed my fears. In our lunch hour I would sometimes go with her to a Christian Science Reading Room. She would go inside, and I would decide to wait outside, but I can always remember the wonderful atmosphere that was expressed and the loving people there. My friend knew that I was a Bible student and belonged to another church—she never tried to pressure me.

We had a crisis in our family—my sister became very ill, and the doctor was very concerned. He said he would wait until the following day to see how she was doing, but he thought she'd have to go into isolation at the hospital. As soon as I arrived at the office on that day, I was very distressed, and my friend listened to me. I remember she said, "Be grateful that she is still at home!" I had never ever thought of gratitude.
