The December 7, 2009, issue titled "Christian fellowship" was so helpful to me.
For me as a tax preparer, the Item of Interest titled "Church giving holding steady" is encouraging. I went to the source of the item and found that the survey told of "growth congregations" (where attendance and finances have grown over the past five years) that are faring better than "survival congregations" (where there is decreased population, on average older). The survey also notes that "congregations responded to the recession in a variety of ways, from feeding the homeless . . . to hosting community gardens, offering ... support for the unemployed, and increasing partnerships with other community groups." All good examples of love meeting needs—through contributions of all kinds.
Shirley Paulson's article on the role of Christian fellowship was enlightening. Like the fellowship which existed between the churches and parishioners in Mrs. Eddy's day, it can't help but bless all today.
