UNITED THROUGH THE BIBLE

National Bible Week is coming up November 21-28. Since 1941, this activity of the New York-based National Bible Association has been celebrated "to raise awareness of the Bible's importance and relevance to our nation as a whole, as well as in the lives of individuals."

The Bible is like a major highway, along which the spiritual wisdom of the ages travels to each reader. It is so central in the history and practice of Christian Science that we thought it was appropriate to plan this issue of the Sentinel at this time.

"The Scriptures are very sacred," wrote our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. "Our aim must be to have them understood spiritually, for only by this understanding can truth be gained" (p.547). It's safe to say that you cannot separate her discovery of God's healing laws from the Holy Bible, inasmuch as she called it "her sole teacher" (p. vii).
