Itchy bumps—gone

On Mother's Day we went to Irvine Park for a picnic. The park is near where we live in Orange County. I liked walking the nature trails and climbing big old trees. While we were walking back to our car, I felt a prick on my leg. But I didn't think anything of it. When we got inside the car, I looked at my leg. I saw a cluster of bumps that looked like poison ivy. I told my mom, and we prayed about it.

We prayed with the Bible verse that says, "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth" (Gen. 1:26). This told me that God can control all. I knew this included poison ivy, too. And I was made in God's image, which is perfect, loving and pure. Therefore no plant or animal could ever hurt me.

I also thought about what it says in Science and Health: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (p. vii). God is the sustaining infinite. When we trust in God's care, we are leaning on Him. We can feel His love, like falling into a comfy couch. Then all fear disappears. I knew only goodness could come from God's love.
