PRAYERS FOR CONSISTENT EMPLOYMENT

HAVE YOU SENT OUT RESUME AFTER RESUME WITH NO response? Or have you gone to several job interviews (which you believed went really well), only to be told each time that someone else was hired, even though you were in the "top three"? Or maybe you found a job, only to discover that it was actually temporary; or the company was downsizing, and you were the last to be hired so the first to go. It's tempting to start feeling discouraged, even worthless, after a while. You may even have come to believe that you're trapped in an economic or an age vacuum, and there's no hope of ever finding a job again.

For almost two years, that was the ongoing scenario of my life, in addition to the fact that my husband's business had slowed down to almost a complete standstill. Nevertheless, because of the wonderful spiritual resources provided by the Discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy—particularly her book Science and Health together with the Bible, and also the Christian Science church services and magazines—I was able to experience moments of great uplift and expectancy of good, even when the outward picture looked dismal.

Often in those moments of inspiration, the Apostle Paul's question in the Bible would come to me, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" (Rom. 8:35). This was followed by my forceful answer, "No one, nothing!" At times, I would get very firm when overwhelmed with negative, discouraging thoughts and deny that they had any power over me. They could never separate me from the divine Mind, or Life, which can only be good because God is good.
