NOTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL IN THIS WORLD

My parents learned about Christian Science before I was born, but because we lived in the countryside far from the nearest city, as a child I never attended Sunday School or a church service. Nonetheless, our family relied exclusively on God and prayer for healing.

The first healing that I remember happened when I was only six. I had a serious skin abrasion on both of my feet, caused by an accident, and through my parents' and my own prayers, the condition was healed within two days.

After World War II, the living conditions in Germany were chaotic; people had barely enough to eat, and as refugees, our family lived in emergency accommodations. It was an unimaginable joy for us when our mother told us one day, "I have been able to contact a few Christian Scientists!" During the war years, we had been forced to submit to the Nazi ban on Christian Science, including discarding all our books and literature. Now for the first time in my life I could attend a Christian Science church service, and get to know what a Christian Science practitioner was.
