In a simple ceremony, July 16, 2009, in the Board Room of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, former US Ambassador Gilbert A. Robinson, Chairman of the National Bible Association, and Marshall Gage, an Association board member, and CEO and Chairman of the Board of Kirkbride Publishing, presented the Church with a Numbered Collectors' Edition of the Centennial King James Thompson Chain Reference Bible. This individually crafted leather-bound Bible was then handed over to Lesley Pitts, Executive Manager and President of The Mary Baker Eddy Library, to be added to the Historical and Sacred Text Collection maintained by the Library.

The Thompson Bible is available in several versions: King James, New King James, New International, and the New American Standard Bible. Its special feature is its Chain Reference System, which allows the reader to follow any subject, person, place, or idea right through the Bible.

The Thompson Bible you buy today has more than 100,000 links covering over 7,000 topics. It also contains a Scripture atlas, studies of prominent Bible characters, an updated archaeological supplement with maps, outline studies of each book of the Bible, and Bible "harmonies," which demonstrate cohesion between seemingly disparate accounts within the Bible. The Kirkbride Bible Company, founded by Gage's great uncle, has been sole publisher since 1915, and has sold over four million copies.
