GOOD THAT'S HERE TO STAY
Countless films and books have been dedicated to the human struggle to recapture the good old days, whether involving the remembrance of human achievements or a collective longing for past prosperity. But linking good with a particular set of circumstances can result in regret and disappointment when those circumstances change, even the feeling that good has come to an end. And then there's the idea that things are just fine the way they are, if only they would stay this way. That point of view plays into the fear that at some point, our good is bound to dry up and run out.
