WORRIED ABOUT THE FLU? ILLNESS IS NOT INEVITABLE

A SPIRITUALITY.COM CHAT in December featured Kittie Burris, a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science who lives near Birmingham, Alabama. Pior to entering the practice, she held a supervisory position, working in special projects for the US Federal Bureau of Investigation. Kittie has a strong interfaith background, and has given talks to groups at religious, hospital, and school facilities. Here are some excerpts from her chat. Whenever a person comes into my house or car and says they aren't feeling well, that something is "going around," I immediately start to worry that I will catch it. What would be a good way to counteract that worry?

I remember one time when someone said, "Oh, I think you're catching cold," to a gentleman at our church, he said, "Oh, I don't take anything that isn't mine." And I love that thought. You can't take on anything that isn't yours, because as the child of God, you have all the health and wealth and well-being right where you are. And the best thing to do in this case, instead of worrying, is to let your light shine, and heal the people around you. Let them feel the power of the presence, and the presence of the power, of divine Love that you know and you feel yourself.
