'THE GROWTH WAS COMPLETELY GONE'
An experience that I had a year ago taught me some important insights into spiritual healing. I'd had a growth on my face for about ten years, which had recently enlarged to the point where I thought it was quite unsightly. Sometimes when thinking about this growth, particularly in the middle of the night, I would become fearful about whether this condition might indicate a more serious health issue. However, my main approach was to ignore it. I'd pray a little, find some comfort, and then ignore it again, even though I knew that prayer in Christian Science would never involve ignoring a problem, but rather would thoroughly address the issue until healing resulted.
One evening, while having a conversation with my husband, I mentioned to him that if I ever were inclined to resort to medical remedies, I would have this growth removed. Later, while thinking about my comment, I was surprised that I had vocalized this option and wondered why I would consider a medical solution to be the most effective remedy, since I'd seen the power of prayer to resolve any challenge in my life. I've had numerous healings in Christian Science, including physical healings for myself and my family.
I challenged myself to ask if I had ever actually prayed consistently and persistently about this condition rather than maintaining this haphazard approach of concern coupled with ignoring the problem.
