USE OF HAND RESTORED

Sometime in 2001, I began to have trouble with my left hand and arm. I lost my normal strength and dexterity, especially in two fingers that tended to curl inward when I used them. I sometimes experienced pain in my wrist and arm. This was particularly disturbing to me because I could no longer play the piano music that I loved.

My first reaction was to practice finger exercises on the piano, but the condition only worsened until I couldn't play at all. Everyday activities such as typing on a computer keyboard and buttoning my shirt also became difficult.

I'd always considered my ability to play music to be the one thing that made me special and gave me my unique identity. It also provided me with much enjoyment and a satisfying way of interacting with other people. I felt a great loss. At the same time, I prayed for myself, and I called a Christian Science practitioner to help me pray.
