A few years ago, I noticed an area on my face where my beard wasn't growing. I thought it might be a temporary reaction to some household chemicals I'd used. But it persisted, and a friend of mine noticed it.

He identified it as a skin disease he'd also experienced—adding, "There's nothing you can do about it."

Well, it may have a name, I thought, but that doesn't mean it can't be healed.
