GOD'S LAW CANCELS WRONGDOING

One day as Jesus was teaching in the temple, a woman was made to stand in front of everyone. Her accusers, announcing she'd been caught committing adultery, taunted Jesus: "Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?" (John 8:5).

Obviously guilty according to Hebrew law, she stood to be punished accordingly.

Yet Jesus responded with great care and compassion. He said to her accusers, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" (John 8:7). Convicted by conscience, they all left.
