OPEN TO GOD'S PLAN

I'm so happy to be able to say, with confidence, that relying on God's love puts everything right, including one's health.

For many years I worked as an internal auditor for a car insurance company. I enjoyed the work and felt confident doing it. Then about ten years ago another auditor, whose expertise was enterprise software implementation—a field I knew nothing about—joined the staff. She told me she would be mentoring me as we worked together on a major project. The boss had never said a word to me about it. This could have been an opportunity to broaden my career, but because it wasn't presented that way, I found myself becoming resentful, resisting the change.

Several weeks after this, I began to experience weakness and pain in my side and back, making it difficult for me to stand or sit up comfortably. Then one Friday it became very pronounced, and by the end of the day I could barely move. I was frightened—but also concerned because both my husband and I were looking forward to some rare time together that coming Monday, and I didn't want anything to interfere. But since any movement caused pain, I could only lie down.
