HIP INJURY HEALED

Several years ago, I decided to go back to playing tennis. For a long time, my teaching career and other responsibilities had kept me too busy. So it felt invigorating and fun to get back on the tennis court.

Then, in the autumn of 2007, I showed up for a group lesson one day. It was bitterly cold, and the wind was blowing at a strong gale force. My first lunge at a volley ended in my feet flying out from under me, and I crashed down hard on my left hip. Other players came rushing over, asking if I was OK.

Immediately I began to pray, my first response in any emergency situation. I concentrated on all the wonderful statements I knew from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, concerning God's love and care for His children. I concentrated on the idea that I was God's reflection, and because of this, I could not experience anything but good. This spiritual view left no room for accidents. In fact, I'd learned through my study of Christian Science that accidents aren't actually part of God's kingdom (see Science and Health, p. 424).
