FREE OF DIAGNOSED GOUT

About four years ago, I was preparing to travel to London from my home in New Zealand. It was my first transcontinental trip in quite some time, and in addition to attending the annual meeting of my Christian Science students' association, I was very much looking forward to visiting family members. It seemed natural to me as a retired insurance broker to apply for travel insurance. In doing so, I found I needed to get a doctor's certificate, which a local doctor agreed to provide.

A few days before my appointment, though, I began to experience severe pain in my left foot. I applied the truths of Christian Science to the situation and prayed daily, but the discomfort had not subsided by the time of the appointment.

For the purposes of the trip, I passed the general checkup with flying colors, for which I was grateful. But afterward, the doctor examined my foot and told me that I had gout. He said that he could prescribe a medicine that would cure the gout, but that I would also need additional medication to counteract the side effects of the first medicine. He assured me that I would need this help and that the prescription was readily available.
