ON COURSE WITH GOD

Athletes Are Often Taught to prepare for competition by visualizing themselves successfully performing with mastery, skill, endurance, and strength, among other qualities.

For some, this may include a mental review of each section of the racecourse and the ideal action required at that moment. For others, it may mean holding an image of perfect technique in mind. The effectiveness of preparing for competition in this way has been repeatedly demonstrated.

However, as a Christian Scientist competing in sport, I've learned there's a deeper, spiritual approach to competition that brings discipline to a person's thought prior to an event—and has significant effects on performance.
