'MY GOD, IN HIM WILL I TRUST'

Each time I consider the gratitude I feel for the healings I've witnessed from prayer alone, this favorite Bible verse comes to mind: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isa. 41:10).

Years ago my dad suggested this verse when I was praying about my baby daughter. At the time of her birth, the medical opinion was that she might never walk, or at least never walk normally. The prognosis was that her hip joints were so loose that her legs fell outward when she lay on her back. I wanted freedom from the fear I felt. And I wanted to see her perfection as God's child.

I called my dad to pray with me, as I often did, and he agreed. As a child I'd experienced quick healings as a result of better understanding that God created me perfect, in His likeness. My dad encouraged me to lean on God and to let go of fear. Learning of God's great love for me was always the light that brought healing, and the 91st Psalm was an inspiration. It was a delight to know that I "abide under the shadow of the Almighty" and that "He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust" (verses 1 and 2). I'd learned that God was trustworthy and the only power.
