ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

A CAUSE WORTH WORKING FOR

AS I LOOK BACK, it seems logical that I'm now joyfully serving others as a Christian Science nurse. But at 19 years old, when it came to choosing a career, I felt lost as to what to pursue.

Throughout my teenage years, there were many times when I cared for others through community service programs. I would often help people shop for groceries and keep them company by engaging in conversations on my visits. On school holidays, I worked at a facility for senior citizens, doing basic chores and talking with some of the residents.

During this time, friends and family encouraged me to consider enrolling in a training program for Christian Science nursing after I completed school, but I had no inclination to follow this line of work. It certainly wasn't the kind of thing my friends would be doing. They were going off to universities, and planning for careers in the corporate world. At that time, I thought becoming a Christian Science nurse wasn't exactly "cool," and I even wondered if my peers would find it a bit odd.
