God is more powerful than anything else

In school one day, a girl was very mean to me. I was very sad because there was no reason why she should act mean. But I remembered what I had learned about God in Sunday School—that God is taking care of each one of His children and we both were surrounded by His love. Instead of seeing something unpleasant, I looked for the good that God had created. The Bible says, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31). Deep in my heart I knew that this girl was a child of God, just like me. It comforted me right away to think of her that way. And I was filled with love for her. Just that thought of love brought about a change. The girl soon apologized to me. And we've been great friends ever since!

At another time I had an earache, and it looked like it was really bad. But what I've learned in Christian Science is that God is more powerful than anything else. Also, I had learned that God fills all space. There is no blank, and any time we need His help, He is right there for us. I am His child, and nothing bad can touch me because He keeps me safe in His love. I didn't have to accept anything else as true about me. What helped me especially were these sentences from Science and Health: "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God" (p. 228). God is supreme, and I knew we are always blessed by listening to Him.

I prayed with these ideas and turned to God with all my heart. My parents prayed with me, too.
