CONFIDENT DECISON-MAKING

I was in the car, on my way to tackle a very long grocery list. There are two large supermarkets located close to my house, so as I approached the street where I needed to turn, I had a decision to make. Should I turn left for the one store—or make a right turn for the other?

Now, I realize this wasn't a big decision. The thing is, I have been trying to be more aware of the presence of God as the infinite All-knowing, listening for His direction in decisions large and small. But as I pondered whether to turn right or left, I was suddenly struck with what to me was a profound thought: It really doesn't matter which way you turn.

I didn't think this thought came just because these grocery stores are pretty much alike. Rather, it was because I realized the clear spiritual fact that good—the very nature and quality of God—is wherever I am. I can't escape it. Good exists as idea, in divine consciousness, and thus is always present and available to me and everyone at all times. After this moment of inspiration, I went off to one of the stores with such a feeling of freedom and joy.
