It took 17 years before I finally opened up the copies of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that my mom had given me.

At the time, I was at a really low point. I was going through a kind of deep depression, and it was eating me up inside. I had gone through a devastating divorce and had very limited visiting hours with my kids. I missed them terribly. A friend suggested I go to group therapy, and that's when I began facing my problems for the first time. I knew I needed help.
