Effective help IN A DESPERATE MOMENT

IT WAS THE USUAL kind of Saturday—chores to do, errands to run—and everything stayed pretty much on schedule until the late afternoon.

Unusual chest pains began while I was at the do-it-yourself car wash. They bothered me, but I thought they would go away if I just sat down in the car for a few minutes. There was a temporary respite, but when I returned to the car after going to the bank, the pain was suddenly immense, and it took my breath away. I had no doubt that I was in major trouble.

If you're wondering why I didn't call 911, there are two answers. The first is that I never thought of it. I had relied on prayer for healing for so many years that even in a desperate moment like this one, I knew prayer would provide the help I needed. Second, even if I had thought of it and wanted to call, at that stage of the experience I could barely move, and even praying wasn't easy.
