BEYOND DOUBT

When I was a freshman in college, it was only in a matter of a day and a half that I went from experiencing what I thought was a sore throat to being unable to swallow or even talk. By writing what I needed to say on paper, I had my roommate call my mother, and my parents immediately came and took me home. My mother asked what I wished to do, and I wrote to call a Christian Science practitioner.

The practitioner talked with me a few times a day on the phone, and my mother often read the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson to me. I don't remember any specific thoughts we prayed with, but what I do remember is feeling absolutely no fear.

After a couple of days, my mother asked me again if I wished to continue with Christian Science treatment, and I answered in the affirmative. Although I was uncomfortable and getting a bit hungry, I never once doubted that I would have a complete healing. I had experienced and had witnessed too many healings through prayer in my life to doubt its effectiveness. Knowing God's perfection and love for me made the sudden and thorough healing that occurred seem only natural to me.
