'Church changing direction; two Eddy homes on sale'

Concord Monitor

The Christian Science Church has decided to sell two of the homes where founder Mary Baker Eddy lived as part of a revisioning of the church's true purpose.

The plan, which the Church of Christ, Scientist's board of directors announced April 13, will not affect the house where Eddy lived on North State Street in Concord [New Hampshire], which is owned by a museum.

It means that houses the church maintains in Lynn, Mass., and Chestnut Hill, Mass., both of which are on the National Register of Historic Places, will be put up for sale. They had been open for tours, but both have been closed since 2004.
