TWO YEAR OLD HEALED QUICKLY

When our younger son was about two, we had an experience that added to my conviction that turning to God in times of urgent need is reliable, including with very small children.

It was an early spring morning, and David and I were headed out to a parent/child playgroup. But when I scooped him up to leave, I slipped on a snail trail on our slate patio. He fell out of my arms, hitting his head hard on the slate. We were both stunned, and he appeared listless and was unresponsive—so unlike his usual two-year-old self.

Immediately I reached out to God with every fiber of my being to feel His goodness and His care right there. I had had many healings through prayer in Christian Science myself, witnessed many more first hand, and read or heard of literally hundreds more, some involving very dire situations. Christian Science had taught me that the dominion the Bible declares that God gives everyone, can be proved. Genesis states that God made man in his own image and likeness (see 1:26, 27). And I reasoned that since God is Spirit and not corporeal, the identity of His children must be spiritual. Therefore, spiritual wholeness must be the unchanging fact for David, right at that moment. I also knew that we don't have anything to do with making the truth true. It enforces itself—our job is to acknowledge, rejoice, and be confident in it. So I had a firm foundation of trust in God's healing power.
