'NOTHING COULD HINDER MY PROGRESS'
Since my introduction to Christian Science more than 35 years ago, I have witnessed God's healing power in many ways, and have found these teachings to be preventive as well as therapeutic. Over the years, a couple of healings in particular have stood out.
In the early 1990s, I was in the yard with my dog. She began to race around wildly. When I called her, she came at breakneck speed, crasing into one of my ankles, causing excruciating pain. I called my husband, who tied up the dog and helped me into the house.
A phrase from Science and Health—"Accidents are unknown to God"—came to mind. The complete statement reads, "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony" (p. 424). I was very familiar with this passage and felt confident that I was never subject to chance or to anything out of control.
