A relationship so close

As close as your own breathing. As warm as a long silent hug from a friend. As instant and space-spanning as those three little words, whispered: "I love you." The human heart longs for just that kind of intimacy with God — a relationship so close and real and pure that it can't become lost, tangled, or corrupted.

Most of us have enjoyed at least moments of connection with the divine Father-Mother. Such as when prayer broke through, like sunlight streaming through trailing storm clouds, and an illness evaporated. When, with no conventional explanation, a feeling came that someone in danger was OK, and the intuition proved true. When a thought, a spiritual urging that was more touch than word, was the tipping point in breaking free from a long-standing hurt or a destructive craving.

Consider our writers this week to be your fellow searchers and intimacy researchers. They're looking to learn how to make those memorable holy moments into a truly permanent thing between God and themselves. And how to help others find this totally satisfying kind of closeness.
