RECURRING SYMPTOMS OF MALARIA GONE FOR GOOD

While I was working as a civil engineer at the Technical Teachers' Training Institute in Chandigarh, India, I was selected in 1980 for a fellowship at an institute in the Netherlands. I considered this opportunity to be a blessing from God, as very few people from my country could study abroad in those days.

The 11-month course in hydraulics engineering involved a lot of study, examination, and field trips. In no time it came to an end, and I was ready to return to India. During the last fortnight of my stay in the Netherlands I decided to visit a friend who lived on the outskirts of London. We had a happy time together. However, two days before I was due to travel back to the Netherlands, I began shivering, felt weak, and had a high fever. I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for healing.

When I spoke with the practitioner, she referred me to the question "What is man?" that Mrs. Eddy posed on page 475 in Science and Health. The answer that follows assured me of my perfection as a child of God, and I cherished that it says we cannot have "a single quality underlived" from Him. He would never give me a bad thing like sickness.
