SAFE FROM ATTACK

En route to my annual Christian Science students' association meeting last year, I felt a tearing sensation in one leg as I climbed a flight of stairs during a ferry crossing. It was accompanied by excruciating pain and an inability to walk. It appeared that I had torn a ligament.

As a Christian Scientist for almost 60 years, I have experienced, and witnessed within my family, many quick and permanent healings through Christian Science prayer alone, including those of broken bones, impaired sight and hearing, food poisoning, muscular paralysis, and toxemia. And so it was natural for my wife and me to turn immediately to God for help, silently praying to understand and claim my spiritual identity as God's image and likeness, forever untouched by accident and pain.
