LETTERS

I am finally putting my life-long love of the Christian Science periodicals into writing and saying thank you for all the work you do in putting together a timely and inspiring magazine. Very often I have stood in church at a Wednesday night meeting and expressed my gratitude for finding just the right answer in a recent Sentinel or Christian Science Journal, or on spirituality.com. I can remember a time when I was in college when each week, for several weeks in a row, my question or challenge was specifically addressed in that week's issue of the Sentinel.

Just recently I returned home from seeing a movie that took place in Africa. I was feeling very depressed and lost as to how we could possibly make a difference in the lives of the millions of people struggling on that continent. I picked up the October 3 issue on justice and found my answer. That issue helped direct my thought back to the good and true going on right now all around the world. In that issue James Spencer ends his article, "Living under the justice of divine law," with this: "The merciful law of God, divine Principle, is available to everyone right here and now. It sets aside injustice with its human vagaries, and enables us to experience God's kingdom come 'in earth, as it is in heaven.' "

A few weeks after finding this inspiration, I was again led to turn to a Sentinel, when my teenage son sped off down the road with a group of his friends. I saw the August 8 issue still sitting on the coffee table with these words on the cover: "Cared for, watched over, protected." I read an article or two, and regained a sense of peace and trust.
