IN SEARCH OF ANSWERS
AFTER A STORM HAS PASSED or a battle has been fought, after the effects of a tragedy have been tallied and officials start referring to "getting back to some semblance of normality," questions often continue to nag for attention, especially in the hearts of those who have lost the people closest and dearest to them. "Where are they now?" "How can I go on?" "Why did some live and others die?"
We're not going to pretent that these questions have easy answers. They do not. And platitudes only make the hurt seem more unbearable, mocking the comfort that even the sincerest well-wisher hopes to offer. Age-old questions such as these are at the core of existence itself. And they deserve the deepest, most profound response—satisfying, hope-producing answers. Answers that come directly from the Creator, to the one in need.
We do not doubt that soul-satisfying answers to such questions exist. Nor that each of us has a role to play in helping another find them. Nor that these answers are there—here—waiting in the moment, as close as God is to each precious son and daughter. Because our Creator is inseparable from each of His offspring for time and eternity, we believe there exists a truth that can and will heal the aching heart of grief and yearning, even as it nourishes the ongoing existence of those the world appears to have lost. This is a spiritual truth that resonates within us, deep-down, beyond anything the human mind could fabricate, in a place where the Father speaks in tones that cannot be mistaken. Throughout the ages, people have perceived it, especially in moments of deepest despair. More often than not, those struggling have found themselves transformed and uplifted.
