'It was time for us to do the impossible'
I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago as having chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as fibromyalgia. I spent many years searching for relief from the pain and disruptive symptoms related to this disease.
I had been raised in Christian Science and been healed through prayer when I was growing up, because of the wonderful prayer of my mother. But in college I wandered away from the path of spiritual healing. Faced with a debilitating physical disease and other problems arising from it, I sought medical attention.
One doctor, who was treating me for an unrelated illness and became a good friend, told me that in his 30 years of practice he had seen several cases of spontaneous remission in patients he was treating. He said that the only explanation for it was that God had brought about the healing of these patients, because he knew he had nothing to do with it. This kind doctor even suggested that I attend his church and counsel with his minister, which I did for a few years.
