When love comes full circle

'How Can I Ever Pay You Back for everything you've been doing for me?" I asked my friend as she drove me down the street one warm spring day a few years ago. "Just do the same thing for someone else some day" was the reply. I'll never forget it. And I'll do my best to follow through.

That year had not started off well for me, and this friend had been offering a lot of help—support of the practical kind, like inviting me over or just calling up to say, "Hi." That was really important. And there was also help of the spiritual kind—I knew she was praying, trusting God to lead me through a tough time. That was the most important help of all.

There's a modern-day good Samaritan for you. Sometimes they are strangers. They can be friends and family, too. In any case jesus' well-known parable from the book of Luke is playing itself out 24/7 today. So much of the times it goes unnoticed. But into each life, there come occasions for entering into that parable and living the spirit of it.
