Swelling of hand healed through prayer

After having recovered from a wrist injury, I was having some difficulty with swelling in my hand and fingers. This bothered me because I had recently gotten married and was not able to wear my wedding rings.

Since I had had many healings in the past through prayer, I knew I could trust God to heal this problem. So I spent a lot of time praying about the situation. Each morning I would waken and check to see how my hand was doing. This continued for several weeks.

One evening as I was ready to fall asleep, the thought came to me that by checking my hand each morning and by feelings as I did that I had to pray really hard about this situation, I was not empowering myself through prayer. In my study of Christian Science, I have learned that there is no power apart from God, and in praying to see the truth of this, I realized I should stop giving power to the physical problem.
