Good neighbors in a crisis time
It's heartening to see how people immediately turn to each other when disaster strikes. All barriers are dropped, and everyone reaches out to help.
Such unselfish acts embody Jesus' words, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31, New International Version). This counsel is expressed throughout the religions of the world. For example, Buddha also tells us: Consider others as yourself" (Dhammapada 10:1).
I've been searching for a deeper meaning behind this type of "neighborliness"—something that applies not only in a crisis, but any time.
