Prayer stops pain and restores freedom of movement
One morning early in 2003, I was hanging the washing on the clothesline. As I lifted my right arm to peg up an item of clothing, I heard a loud crack from my shoulder. For a moment I felt a lot of pain and was afraid. But soon, there was no further discomfort, so I just continued on with my clothes-hanging and thought no more about it.
A few months later, however, the same shoulder and arm suddenly seized up. I could no longer use that arm to dress myself, brush my hair, or do the housework; the slightest movement was extremely painful.
I decided to pray and heal the condition by using the understanding I had gained from my study of Christian Science. This was a natural choice for me. I'd been brought up in a family where my parents studied the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. It was normal for all of us to turn to God for healing. Later, after I'd married, prayer had brought comfort and freedom from illness and the effects of injuries many times to everyone in the family.
