Prayer—available to help in an emergency
Originally published in El Heraldo de la Christian Science
Two years ago I had proof of how important it is to pray for oneself and for one's family. We had gone to dinner with our daughter and our small grandchildren at a restaurant that has a play area for children.
While my husband and daughter talked, I took the children to play. Half an hour later, we heard several cracks. I thought they were firecrackers until a gentleman came running in with a baby in his arms and made us lie on the ground, telling us they were gunshots and we shouldn't move. A stockade fence separated us from the area where the shots and the screaming were coming from.
After a few minutes, the gentleman went out and came back to tell us that someone had been wounded, but it was now safe to leave. We did, and that's when I discovered that the wounded person was my husband.
