Your prayer makes a difference in the world
Sometimes doubt sneaks in ... can my prayer really help? Can I possibly influence the big picture? When I'm tempted to doubt the power of prayer, I think about an experience I had a few years ago.
I was working on the security staff of a large organization. Very busy streets bordered the property on three sides, and it was our policy to offer help if we saw someone needing assistance to cross the streets.
One evening I was following a man who was staggering, weaving back and forth on the sidewalk. It seemed to me he could have been under the influence of drugs. He was approaching a street, and I was planning to offer help if he decided to cross. But suddenly I caught myself. "Why don't you pray for him," I thought, "that he will be sober and freed from this condition that puts him in danger?" I began to pray.
