Toothache healed at 2002 Church meeting

Written for Der Christian Science Herold

I had a healing during a service at the Annual Meeting & Conference of The First Church of Christ, Scientist—my Church's large meeting held in Boston last June.

An infected molar was causing me a lot of pain. Since it was a great wish of mine to be able to serve once in my life as an usher in The Mother Church, I asked a friend to pray for me—because I didn't want to miss the opportunity to usher at this meeting because of the pain. And I thought about how often prayer had freed me from pain.

Despite my condition, I was able to take my place in the large group of ushers. I offered my service happily. With prayer and joy I stood at the service in the large auditorium.

While I was singing the last hymn—I don't know which one it was—something sang in me. And I remembered the end of a different hymn that says, "Rejoice, for thou art whole" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 374). I sang these words over and over again. Tears of joy fell on my hymnal, and I felt the inner certainty that everything was all right. I felt completely free, and gratefully I returned to the room where I was staying.

Although I couldn't yet see any change in my appearance in the mirror, I knew that I was healed.

When exactly the pain totally disappeared, I can't say. But by the following day, the tooth was completely healed.
