A lifetime of faith and healing

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Ps. 103:2). I give thanks for all the many blessings that have come to me in my life through the study of Christian Science.

When I was four years old, I had diphtheria, and my parents took me to the hospital. There they were told, "You've brought us a dying child." Immediately I was given a windpipe incision to be able to breathe. The doctors worked earnestly over me but gave my parents little hope that I would be able to live without harmful aftereffects, if at all. They treated me with powerful drugs.

During this period while I was so sick, a neighbor explained Christian Science to my parents. This neighbor offered to pray for me. My mother visited me daily in the hospital. I saw her from behind a glass partition. She talked to me and prayed earnestly.
