Not surprisingly, then, ideas—in dedicatory comments, arts performances, discussion groups, interactive displays, and free-flowing conversations—will take center stage in the September 27–29 celebrations marking the opening of The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity in Boston, Massachusetts.

Library chief executive officer Stephen Danzansky sees the opening of The Mary Baker Eddy Library as "the opening of a new chapter in humanity's encounter with Mary Baker Eddy and her writings." He explains, "Through the Library's collection, exhibits, programs, and Web site, people will have unparalleled access to the ideas, life, and achievements of this remarkable woman."

Danzansky mentions society's new openness to thinking and talking about things of the Spirit, and the relationship between spirituality and health. "This is exactly what Mrs. Eddy was writing about a century ago. Her ideas have so much to contribute to the public discourse. And a library is a perfect forum for these discussions.
