My dad used to say, "If you're really practicing Christian Science, you'll always have a healing to talk about. Every step of spiritual progress is like a healing. You don't have to have a healing of an awful experience to feel genuine gratitude."
This came to mind as I walked to church one summer evening in Switzerland. I was working in Lausanne as part of my year abroad from Southampton University.
On my walk, I had lots of time to think over the things that had happened that week, but nothing struck me as remarkable or convincing enough to talk about—at least, not in terms of how prayer had helped me.
