God's help, wherever you are
Original in Portuguese
One day I tripped and fell through a glass door. The impact was great, and when the glass broke, I fell on top of it.
My legs were covered with large cuts. I was alone and began to pray. I remembered the parable of the Good Samaritan in the Bible, which tells of a man who was attacked by thieves and left alone to die, until a kind man came along and helped him (see Luke 10:30-37). I affirmed that because God was there to help me, I couldn't fall victim to anything that would cause me to suffer. God would never stop protecting me.
I continued to pray, thinking of how God sends messages—angels—that always come to our aid. Just then a policeman walked by, saw what had happened, and, like the Good Samaritan in the Bible, came to help me. I asked him to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. With the support of the practitioner, and my own prayer, I was soon able to go back to work after ten days, completely healed.
