A quick healing of a severe injury

Lying on the ground, I became aware that I had just taken a fall off the patio gazebo that I'd been building. My ankle had cracked loudly, and I was afraid that it was broken.

When you're a building contractor, it's hard to avoid little bumps and scratches. But I was proud that for nearly 25 years I had kept accidents to a minimum and had never suffered a serious injury. This time, however, it did seem serious. As a Christian Scientist, I had learned that it's important at times like these to see that an accident is impossible in God's creation. According to the Bible (see Gen. 1), I was part of the spiritual creation of God, and now was the time for me to maintain that clear perception of myself.

Although I was in pain, I wanted to get up. I did not, however, want to try to stand on a broken ankle. I peeked down at my foot and saw that it was pointing at a sharp angle inward. This was only Wednesday, but so far I had not been having a very good week. There had been some friction with several of my customers, and now I had to deal with this!
