prayer & healing—a way of life
—a way of life
Shouna Shoemake is one of four children who grew up in a family that relied exclusively on prayer to meet all their needs. In a recent talk with the Sentinel, Shouna told us about just a few of the many experiences she and her brothers and sister had as a result of turning to God as their source of health and well-being. Shouna studied music with an emphasis on classical voice at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Today she sings in the chorus of the San Diego Opera and lives in La Mesa, California.
You grew up in a Christian Scientist family, where prayer was an everyday part of life. Tell us about what that environment was like for you as a child.
